Evil Veggies

Looks like some Republican Legislators are attacking Dr. Ed Shadid's ideas for Oklahoma City. This letter was sent on behalf of Charlie Swinton claiming that Ed is a liberal that wants to spend money on community gardens. Horror of horrors. Oklahoma City is one of the fattest cities in the nation. There are a number of reasons for our obesity. First and foremost, no one walks. The city is large and spread out so people drive. There is little public transportation and the city has failed to create walkable neighborhoods. I'm not surprised that these Republicans want to make city council races partisan by using key words like "conservative" and "liberal".

Guy Liebmann, one of the letter signatories, has had some wackier ideas of his own. Over a year ago, the Representative was incredibly concerned with getting some reflectors put on the highway that goes through his district. He would bring these reflectors to the House floor and committee meetings. What's the difference between the reflectors that ODOT uses and these? These are new and Liebmann wanted them. Was he getting a kickback from the manufacturer? it sure would be a pretty big contract to install new reflectors on all the highways in the metro.

The difference between what Guy did and what Ed wants to do is Guy had a chance to make some personal cash on his project while Ed's would actually help the people. Republicans can't even fathom the idea of not profiting off of others.

Welcome

Welcome to my new blog. I hope to make this something that everyone can enjoy with funny things and my political thoughts. I suppose you could consider me a populist. I don't like big government or big corporations. I think that both things are bad for the masses. It is time for us all to stand up for our own values instead of becoming a mouthpiece for the rich and powerful. Thanks for checking me out! Tell your friends!
